Media monitoring is the main profile of Observer Budapest, which means the monitoring of about 700 publications and the national radio and television stations. Our customers recieve the selected articles, and the written text of programs the traditional way, or through the internet. A large part of our data base is available on the internet free of charge, along with the recently launched news service.

Newspaper Monitoring

Our work...

We monitor over 780 different publications, from magazines to special editions, daily newspapers to periodical publications. We start work at 5:30 a.m. with the summarization of the national daily newspapers, so our customers will recieve the daily press monitoring material by 9 a.m.

The publications go through several inspections, to make sure you recieve all the information. After processing, the publications are placed in the archives, where the national daily newspapers are stored for 4 years, all other publications are stored for 3 years. This makes it possible to search for past articles.

If requested, we can make a translation of the summary or content of an article in English or German.

The publications cover the entire nation, so our customers can rest assure that nothing will pass their attention.

Morning rapid news monitoring (by 9 a.m.)
From over 780 Hungarian publications (daily, weekly, biweekly, monthly etc.) We will make a copy of the entire article containing news in the subject you determine, with the name of the publication and the date issued included. News from the national daily newspapers are delivered by 8 a.m.

Daily rapid news monitoring (by 12 noon)

Advertisement monitoring

The national daily newspapers are stored for 4 years, other publications are stored for 3 years. You determine the time span for searching back issues. (Personalized services require a prior agreement.)

Domestic publications by computer
We will print a copy of the original article in the subject you determine, with the name of the publication and the date issued included from our computer database. You determine the time span for searching back issues from January 1, 1999 to present day.

Online media by computer
We will print a copy of the original article in the subject you determine, with the name of the publication and the date issued included from our computer database. You determine the time span for searching back issues from January 1, 2000 to present day. The database contains online publications available only on the Internet, along with the online version of daily and weekly publications.

Text from radio and television programs
We are able to search in our archives the text for the past 2 years in the subject you determine. (With prior agreement.)

Electronic Media Monitoring

Our work...

We monitor the economic and news programs of 6 television stations (M1, M2, Duna TV, ATV Híradó, TV2, RTL Klub) and 2 radio stations (Kossuth, Info Rádió: with entire text from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. - currently under construction - there is no news from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m.) for our customers. The different programs are not only stored in our inner archives, but also get written down by our typists, from which content summaries and copies of the entire text are made. This makes it possible for our customers to read the text of those programs aired before 11 p.m., the next morning. A computer data base, which contains the text of the news programs, makes our job easier. This is especially important when we recieve infrequent orders, because we are able to find any program by typing in a few words. We will send you the summary by internet, e-mail, courier, or fax, as requested. Monitoring is done 24 hours a day, non-stop, this way no news can escape our attention. If requested, we can make a translation of the entire news, or just the contents in English or German.

Our work...

We record news, economic and cultural programs broadcast on 6 television stations (M1, M2, TV2, ATV Híradó, Duna TV, RTL Klub), along with economic and cultural programs broadcast on 7 radio stations (Kossuth, Petőfi, Juventus, Danubius, Pannon Rádió, Budapest Rádió, Info Rádió) 24 hours a day. The recorded programs are stored in our video archives. Programs from the M1 and M2 stations are stored for six months, programs from other stations are stored for three months. Certain orders can be taken with same day delivery.

Recording of television programs for campaign monitoring or infrequent orders
We will record onto a cassette the program(s), program segments, subjects (press conferences, exhibits, programs etc.) you determine, even, with prior agreement, programs from 2-3 months ago from our archives. The television station's name, the program's name, and the date and time it was broadcast will be displayed on the cassette. It is also possible to record several entire programs!

Recording of radio programs for campaign monitoring or infrequent orders
We will record onto a cassette the program(s), program segments or subjects (press conferences, exhibits, programs etc.) you determine, with the radio station's name, the program's name, and the date and time it was broadcast displayed on the cassette. With a prior agreement, a cassette recording can be made of programs broadcast 2 or 3 months ago, from our archives. It is also possible to record several entire programs!

Internet Department

Our work...

Starting at 4 a.m., we look over the daily newspapers and write a brief content summary of the selected articles. With the help of a special program, we can select the articles by subjects. The articles will be delivered to our customers by mail, courier, e-mail, or Internet. By e-mail, we are able to send summaries, or the original article in OCR form - where the article is inserted by computer - to our customers. (OCR - Optical Character Recognition). Observer Budapest Kft. created a password-required area on its website - www.observer.hu - where the scanned version of the articles and/or the summaries are located. Our customers can identify their orders by a monitoring number and can access the material through a password given to them by Observer Budapest Kft. The articles and summaries are stored by Observer Budapest Kft. and made available through the Internet.

From the national daily newspapers The original articles in OCR (character recognition) form saved in a file. The material can be archivised.

The mistakes that may occur in the character recognized text are not corrected. The correction is done by the customer, with the help of the enclosed press clipping.

Services Available on the Internet

Our browsers contain the text of 130 printed publications, the news and magazine programs of 3 radio and 6 television stations, along with material from nearly 100 online publications. With the help of these search programs, writings, reports and interviews already published can be searched for and viewed. Our customers enter their own keywords, the results will be listed within seconds.

Press Browser
The Press Browser is available on Observer's website (http://www.observer.hu). The browser currently contains articles from 135 publications, dating back to January 1, 1999, and is continuously being updated.

Online Browser
The Online Browser is available on Observer's website (http://www.observer.hu). News can currently be obtained from nearly 100 publications available only on the Internet, along with the online version of daily and weekly publications. This service has been available since January 1, 2000. The number of publications and articles avaible are continuously increasing.

Radio and Television Browser
The Radio and Television Browser is available on Observer's website(http://www.observer.hu). The browser currently contains the economic and news programs of 3 radio and 6 television stations. This service has been available since January 1, 1998.

Automatic Search
Search only among online media through preset keywords. This solution is recommended for internal use, and can be put up on a website.
